James developed his love for choral music as a chorister at St Paul’s Cathedral for six years. He pursued this love through his education at Repton and Durham University where, as well as studying music, he became the Musical Director of the University Light Opera Group, and gained valuable experience in conducting.

 

Once he moved back to Derby to join the Foulds family music business, he became very involved in local choirs and orchestras. He conducted the ‘Sitwell Singers’ for some years and later formed his own group, ‘Tapestry’. He is currently Assistant Conductor of the Derby Bach Choir and also sings baritone with the a cappella group ‘Mosaic’ who have given many very successful concerts mainly in the Leicestershire and Derbyshire areas.
